Dear Property Owner or Manager:
Thank you for visiting the Houston Housing Authority’s Disaster Housing Assistance Program website for property owners and managers.
If you currently lease an apartment or house to a family receiving rental assistance from FEMA, changes will occur beginning December 1, 2007. The FEMA program will become DHAP (Disaster Housing Assistance Program), which is a HUD-FEMA pilot program designed to provide rent subsidy for non-HUD assisted families displaced by Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. The families that are currently being assisted by FEMA will be eligible to utilize the services offered by DHAP.
Under DHAP, the Houston Housing Authority will begin making rental assistance payments to participating property owners using Corporate Lodging Consultants (CLC), FEMA’s current contractor, beginning December 1, 2007 and ending March 1st, 2009. We hope you will consider participating in this program; however, if you have decided that you do not wish to participate, please fill out the “Decline to Participate” form located on this website and return it to the Houston Housing Authority.
Please continue to visit the Corporate Lodging Consultants website frequently as we expect you have to have the ability to sign the electronic Disaster Rental Subsidy Contract (DRSC) on or around November 1. If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to call 713.655.1940 or email DHAPinquiry@housingforhouston.com.
Sincerely,
Houston Housing Authority DHAP Staff
