Barry Downing
Chairman of the Board
Barry Downing is the founder of Corporate Lodging Consultants and currently serves as the chairman of its board of directors. Downing started CLC as a two-person operation in 1977, and led its growth to industry leadership as a provider of customized lodging management services for over 250 customers with nearly $300 million in annual lodging purchases.
Downing's career of successful entrepreneurship also includes the founding of Lodging Enterprises, Inc., the owner of 32 hotel properties; MedVentures, L.L.C., which holds interests in two specialty care cardiac hospitals; and a number of successful real estate development ventures.
Prior to creating Corporate Lodging Consultants, Downing served as president of Associated Druggists, Inc., which provided advertising and merchandising services for retail drug outlets. As president, Downing helped Associated Druggists expand from 300 to over 2,000 participating stores and earn a position on INC Magazine's "Top 100 Small Companies" list.
Downing earned a BS degree in electrical engineering at the nationally accredited Wichita State University School of Engineering.
